Saucy September: Must-Attend Events This Month

Sep

If events are a staple food for you, then September is definitely your month. Here are some highlights on events coming up.

1.     Koroga Festival 19th Edition

This edition is holding nothing back. Congolese singer-songwriter, producer and dancer extraordinaire Mr. Fally Ipupa will be in town to rock your Sunday afternoon. Dan Aceda, the Crown Prince of Benga and The Kansoul are also expected to perform. We’re mostly looking forward to seeing the soul sisters Linda live. If their YouTube channel is anything to go by, Linda are the next big thing.

2.     Concours d’Elegance 2017

Back for the 47th edition, this CBA sponsored motorsports event will have you drooling over the all the classic cars and elegant fashion. Round up your family and friends for this #BeautyandTheBeast themed ensemble. Get ready to be awed, entertained and inspired.

3.    Storymoja Festival

One of the most renowned pan- African literature festivals comes to Nairobi later this month. Not only is the guest list stunning, but also the 5-day calendar is jam packed with exhibitions, premium events and masterclasses. The who’s who in art and literature will be there and if this is your scene, get that ticket.

4.   Spare my Ribs

Brian Onjoro and Yafesi Musoke are taking no prisoners in the pursuit of making you laugh! Introducing Brian Onjoro, the “new” kid on the block. He’s the real mvp killing us softly with those punchlines. Ya’ll already know Yafesi from Because You Said So. Stand up comedy is comedy in its purest form. It is more or less improvised and divides the wheat from the chaff in the comedy realm. Come watch these two gentlemen flawlessly deliver comedy.

5.   Earthdance Nairobi

Earthdance is a global movement for peace, love and serenity. We are absolutely pumped for this BYOB event. Meticulously setting up 3 stages will be no easy fete but Earthdance are determined to ensure there is something for everyone. The line up is on fire! DJ Kace, DJ Zipporah, Dj Creme, Suraj, Euggy, LA Dave, DJ Drazen, DJ Hypnotiq and DJ Protege just to name a few. If you are not stoked then you need to be because we are.

6.  Costume Festival

This family friendly event will give you the chance to put your best foot forward and strut in your costume of choice. Enjoy the wide variety of console games, air hockey, bubble soccer, rounders, kati and football for the outdoor sports enthusiasts as you celebrate International Peace Day. Sounds like your kind of thing? Well make sure you get that ticket.

7. Souls Musical

A musical with a difference. Souls depicts a hypothetical community in the process of recovering after a civil war. We can draw a lot of parallels between this community and what is happening in our current political scene. Nothing quite like a multi-award winning play to teach us the importance of peace.

8. Fashion & Lifestyle

An ensemble of fashion, food, music and entertainment will be going down at the Michael Joseph Centre on the 30th. Local designers and other exhibitors will be selling their merchandise at the same location. If you've got an eye for everything stylish, this is where you need to be.

There is no reason why you should be a couch potato this month. There’s too much going on. Whether you need a family friendly event, a hearty laugh or an all night rave, we’ve got you. Get those tickets and let’s see you there!
